10 Unique Valentine Date Ideas

Love is in the air. Celebrate love with your partner, family and/or friends by doing one of these things.

1) Staycation

You don’t have to take an expensive trip if it is not in your budget. You can stay in a hotel  located in your city that you have always wanted to stay in. If you live in the suburbs you can stay in Downton and it will definitely feel like you are on vacation. Walk around downtown and explore the city you’re from, be a tourist for a day!

3) Spa Day

Just thinking about this is making me relax. This is a perfect way to treat yourself and your partner. You can schedule couples massage and enjoy amazing professional massages. Go to Groupon and search for these services in your city to get more affordable rates. Also, if you are not a big fan of massages, it sounds crazy, but I know there are a few people out there, than you can look up a spa you would like to go and relax in, and pay a utility fee most spas offer. This lets you use their facilities such as pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc, for a set price.

4) Road Trip

Road trips are so fun! Buying a ton of snacks for the road. Stopping along the way, discovering awesome restaurants and walking out of them wishing you had one of them near home. You can do a long or very short, less than a day, trip. Go to the next city and spend the day and/or night.

5) Dinner at Home + Signature Cocktail

I love finding new delicious recipes and getting to try them at home. I also always enjoy making new cocktails. They are so fun to make and even more to drink! Make the evening special by cooking a new recipe or pulling out the “special occasion” recipe, and make delicious drinks to accompany it. Also, these don’t have to be done together. Ya’ll can always order takeout and make a cocktail to accompany it and vise versa.

6) Wine and Paint

Head over to Groupon and look for a class that offers wine and paint night. If you’re on a budget you can always do a wine and paint night at home! Buy the tools, pick up a bottle of wine, look for an image to paint, and the last step is to put on a movie in the background or some music while you have fun exploring your artistic side.

7) Take a Brewery Tour

Taste good beer while learning about the process that got the beer in your hand! There are so many trendy breweries that are worth trying.

8) Bake

Most of us love baking, but it seems like there is never enough time to do it. I usually wait until there is a special event to show off my skills. Set some time aside to do this activity with your partner/friend/family. The best part is that you get to eat your creations afterward. Doesn’t get better than that!

9) Watch a live Band Perform

Wether you go to a bar to watch a cool band or attend a small concert, they are all a good time. Music is fun and makes everyone feel more alive.

10) Photoshoot + Sunset

Capture the moment. Go on a walk or drive to your favorite place in town and take pictures of each other and/or of the sunset. Right before the sun goes down is a perfect time because you’ll get a beautiful golden glow in your pictures. Capture the love between you and whoever you’re celebrating valentines day with.

Whatever you end up doing, I hope you have the time of your life with your loved ones. Lets choose love today, and always. Talk to you soon.

How I Dress my Curvy Body: Jeans, Dresses, Tops

Learning and establishing your style is crucial to your confidence because if you look good you feel good. Thats why I am so excited to be writing about this topic. I have always found it a little difficult to dress my body because the upper part of my body is smaller than my lower half, thanks to my smaller chest, bigger hips and booty. This is how I dress for my body type and all items are chosen from stores I regularly shop from. Click on the images to shop the look.

When it comes to jeans I always wear high wasted jeans with some stretch to them. The stretch allows the jeans to hug my big hips and make me feel like I can move and feel comfortable. I have bought jeans from all different brands, but my favorite ones that never fail me are Levi high waisted jeans. They always have great sales as well and their shipping is amazingly fast.

I love body con dresses because they show off my figure, but when it’s not a good day for me and I am feeling a little bloated, than ill wear a dress with some flow to it. When I look for a dress I make sure it comes in at my waist and accentuates it because it makes me look slimmer.  Here are a few examples of some of my favorite dresses.

I love all types of tops, but I find that the most difficult to style are blouses. I have to be very careful with them because they can make me look bigger than I am if I don’t style them correctly. If I want to wear a flowy blouse ill style it depending on how I look. If it is the perfect size and it looks good as is, than I won’t do anything to it. If it’s not giving me any shape and/or it is too long than ill either tuck it in a little in the front or fully into my pants. What I can never go wrong with are body suits. They especially go well with high waisted pants, and they automatically make you look put together.

Snowed In? 5 Self Care Things to Keep You Busy all Day.

Time is now more valuable than ever. We are all always on the go and time is never enough. Thats why when you get snowed in, Mother Nature is forcing you to take some time off for yourself. Consider this day off, a gift from nature, and do some self care. By the way the picture above was taken by Marymar during her trip to Crested Butte, Colorado and I thought it was the cutest picture ever and if this picture doesn’t give you the “snowed in” vibe, than I don’t know what does.

Back story to what inspired me to write this. I currently live in San Diego, and have never lived outside of southern California. Recently, I drove to Oklahoma City, and currently am still here, and I got snowed in! The roads got extremely icy and pretty much every business was closed so I had no choice but to stay in all day. I had never been snowed in. I was alone in my Marymar’s house, she was out of town, and I couldn’t even drive to my moms house because of the dangerous roads. So here are all the things you can do on your day off if you get snowed in as well.

1. Work on Your Dreams.

There is not a more perfect time to work on your dreams, than right now. We all have something we would like to get started or put more time into wether it is your blog, starting a business, or simply putting more time into your hobby such as painting. Today is the time to do that. Any time you put into it adds up over time. Wether you put in 15 minutes or 5 hours, all and any of it is an awesome investment.

2. Take care of your skin.

Snowy days means your house is warm because you have the heaters running all day and night. Heaters make your skin dry so put on a mask while you relax. Here are some of my favorite face mask you need to try. Click on the picture or description to buy it now or read more about the benefits.

Catastrophe Cosmetic. A fresh face mask made with real blueberries. Made by Lush.

Hello, Calm. Relaxing & Hydrating Face Mask with Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil. Made by Origins.

Sand & Sky. A pore-refining mask with super-powered Australian botanicals.

3. Read a book.

I love reading. but my excuse usually is that I am always too busy to pick up up the book I’ve been currently reading for 2 months and barely past the first chapter haha. I swear I do have the intention to finish it! Snowed in means you finally have the time to pick up that book and get into it. This is a list of my current favorite books. Click on the book to buy it now.

4. Cook Delicious Meals.

5. Movies + Netflix

Catch up on all your Netflix shows you’ve been dying to watch. If you haven’t watched Travelers you need to start, its sooo good, maybe too good.

I loved being at home all day, technically it wasn’t my home it was Marymar’s, but her house is so cute I wanted to claim it for myself! I did all the things I mentioned above and the next day when the roads had defrosted I was so calm and freshly relaxed, ready to tackle on the day. How do you like to pamper yourself? Let us know in the comments. Talk to you soon 💋.

Welcome the New Year the Right way with these Mexican Superstitions

Happy new year everyone! Today is everyones birthday. I love the first day of the year because there is never a day that feels as fresh, full of ambition, and exiting as today. New year day is truly a fresh start to execute whatever you goal you have in mind. 2019 can be whatever you want it to be. It can finally be the year you buy a house, or start saving for one. You can make that big change you’ve been wanting to make, but have been waiting for the right moment. Today, the first of the year, is the perfect sign you’ve been waiting for.

Growing up, Marymar and I have always had a ton of fun on New Years eve. The funnest part about celebrating and welcoming the new year was all the superstitious things we would all do. Putting in our thoughts and energy to make them work and believing in making the new year better than the previous. We would do a lot of little things truly believing it would set the path for the rest of the year. We still do some and others we haven’t in a while, but these are all the superstitious things we would do on New Years eve.

Welcome the new year with these Mexican superstitions:

  • Buy grapes and each person eats 12 grapes, one for every month of the year. Make one wish for each, as you eat them. According to Mexican culture, they come true.
  • You have to wear red to attract love throughout the year. This is one we still do today. We panic if we are not wearing any red, we fear a loveless year haha.
  • Wear yellow to attract wealth.
  • Want to travel a lot? Grab your suitcase and walk around the block. ( We never did this, but had family who did)
  • Wash all your clothes, sheets and clean your house in order to receive the new year with clean energy and good vibes.
  • We make a dinner party and right when the clock strikes midnight you have to hug you relatives and friends to wish them a happy new year.
  • Kiss your partner at midnight (this one is common in many cultures)
  • Wear something new. We would always wear something that was new, for a new beginning.
  • Dress up. Every new year eve we dress up. Our mom would always tell us that we had to welcome the new year looking the best we could look and feeling our best because of that. That means wearing an awesome outfit, doing your hair and makeup.

Unfortunately me and Marymar couldn’t spend new year together this year, but we were sending each other pictures throughout the night to feel like we were together haha. Marymar welcomed 2019 in crested butte, Colorado and I was in Oklahoma City.

These are all the superstitions we grew up doing on new year eve. Wether you believe in them or not is all up to you, but its fun doing all these with family and kids wether their true or not. Plus, its a great way to get kids to clean up haha. I hope your new year is amazing full of love, courage, growth and adventure. Were only in this world for a significantly small amount of time so lets enjoy every day we are gifted with, and always remember that self care is the most important thing you can do, because with a healthy heart, mind and body we can achieve anything. Did you do any of these things on new year eve or different ones? let us know! Welcome 2019!

Holiday Guide: Wreath Watercoloring Activity

Happy Holidays! 🎄 Can you believe it’s December already, I can’t! I feel as if it was just last christmas searching for gifts and packing for our yearly winter vacation to Crested Butte. I can’t complain because the holidays are my favorite time of the year. Family bonding activities is what I live for! I get to spend Christmas in San Diego and new years eve in Colorado. Much needed vacation!

Lately, I have been working a lot in our businesses. My husband and I are currently working on renovating a 40,000 square ft building. It’s a couple of streets over the already trendy developed area of downtown Oklahoma City. Our goal is to develop the street and for this property we wish for it to be a one stop shop for creating a unique experience for okies and travelers alike. But while trying to renovate the whole building we are also trying to rebrand a company that pretty much came along with the building haha, it is a home decor/structural antiques shop. With the help of a marketing company we are renaming it Dead People’s Stuff “Architectural Antiques + Design”. We currently are renovating the shop space to make it a modern building on the inside but the outside will keep its rustic look. The store carries structural antique items shipped from England, St. Louis, Chicago and Europe. And with a re-grand opening in the works for next Spring 2019, we will be adding unique modern inventory as well.  Currently with DPS occupying 20,000 sq ft of the building we see the opportunities for the rest of the warehouse to be either a restaurant, brewery, coffee shop, bar/tasting room, and/or event center. We are also putting together ideas for a shared office working environment where builders, interior decorator and designers can work and meet with their clients. I know so much going!  A lot of my days are filled with meetings, computer work and clients. I can’t complain I love what I do but sometimes I need a little break from thinking about work. So my Saturday consisted of staying in my pajamas and work on my watercoloring skills. Watercoloring is something that not only relaxes me but let’s me stay in the present moment. I don’t have to worry about messing up and if I do then it’s part of the art I’m creating. I had a lovely Saturday evening; just me, my watercolors and Christmas movies. If you are looking for Christmas activities, this not only is a great activity if you have children but also if you want to gather your friends for a holiday wine & paint session.

Watercoloring Necessities:

For my watercolor paintings I used a lot of reds, light green, forest green, and different shades of blues. Honestly I used my kindergarten or maybe it was first grade skills of color mixing to get the colors I needed. I started with drawing a big circle and started painting the red berries as a way to start the painting. I used a holiday wreath image to mimic the design but I also added different types of leaves to make it fuller.

Just remember to have fun, for us perfectionist out there we tend to want to make it perfect but art is not about being perfect. You can make holiday cards or put a frame on it and give it as a gift.

What are your favorite holiday activities? And what are your plans for these holidays?

Love you all!

Quote of the Day!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did.” Mark Twain

Holiday Gift Guide: Home Decor

Hi love. My favorite month of the year is approaching! I love the month of December for so many reasons! I cant contain my excitement. I love all the holiday decorations that pop up everywhere. I love seeing lights and listening to Christmas music, baking, cooking and most importantly spending time with my family. The one thing I do not look forward to, as much, is shopping for Christmas presents because it is so difficult! This year I decided to put a list together of awesome goodies, to organize myself, and I am sharing it with you. Hope this helps you, and remember you can always treat yourself as well!

Mexican Recipe: Atole de Platano

Hi loves! Im here to share with you an amazing traditional Mexican recipe. My parents are from Acapulco, Mexico and atole is one of those authentic recipes that is a staple in our culture. Everyone is obsessed with atole de platano macho (plantain). It is a thick consistency drink which can be poured into your favorite mug or bowl. I love to eat it out a bowl with a spoon, because I love getting the smashed plantains from the bottom with every spoonful. We always make this recipe, specially during the holidays. We love to drink/eat this while we cozy up and watch movies. Here is the recipe.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

6 Plantains

2 cans of coconut milk

1 cinnamon stick

2 Piloncillos (unrefined cane sugar) or 1 cup of brown sugar

1/2 cup of masa (dough made from corn flower) or Maseca

15 1/2 cups of water

Step 1: Fill up a cooking pot halfway with water (about 15 cups of water) and add the cinnamon stick. Turn the heat to medium.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 2: Add the two piloncillos (brown sugar cane) or 1 cup of brown sugar and bring it to a boil over high heat. The sugar is to taste so add as little or as much as you would like the sweetness level to be. This is how sweet we like it.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 3: Peel and add the plantains to the pot. Let them soften for 15 to 20 minutes.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 4: Once the plantains are soft bring the heat down to a medium and smash them in the pot with a smasher.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 5: On a separate bowl add half a cup of water and dissolve the 1/2 a cup of masa or Maseca. Mix until there are no lumps. When it is dissolved add it to the pot and mix.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 6: Only after you have added the masa or Maseca, add the two cans of coconut milk to the pot and stir. It is important that you do not add the coconut milk before the masa/maseca.

Processed with VSCO with a8 preset

Step 7: Serve hot into a bowl or a mug and enjoy!

I hope you love this recipe and get to make it at home. Tell us in the comments what is your favorite Mexican drink. Talk to you later love.

Wedding in San Diego + behind the scenes & tips on destination weddings

Hi loves,  I’m finally married (Marymar) well for three months now, sorry for such a late post of the wedding day. Life has been crazy but in such a good way, always believe in the timing of the universe.  June 23rd, I married my best friend Curran Fudge, which officially makes me Mrs. Fudge (best last name ever). Curran and I were originally going to celebrate our wedding in Oklahoma City where we currently live but our guest list was outrageous it added up to almost 800 people so I said no way so we decided to plan for a destination wedding in San Diego. San Diego is where most of my family lives but it also holds such a big part of my heart since I was born and raised in sunny SD. After a long brainstorming session we decided on a more intimate wedding in San Diego. Which has been by far the best weekend of my life, we ended up having a whole weekend of activities with our favorite people, it was absolutely magical.

Our wedding weekend started on a Thursday in a restaurant in La Jolla where family friends threw us a wedding shower. We all ended the night hanging out in the cutest bar (Born and Raised) in Little Italy and in Downtown San Diego. We continued celebrating on Friday with a fun game of paintball during the day, continued with rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at our favorite beach called Tecolote, where my sister and I grew up going as little girls. Friday evening my sister (best maid of honor ever), mom and I checked in into our room at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, where the wedding took place. We were fortunate to have stayed in one of their luxury suites overlooking the world famous Torrey Pines Golf course and California coastline, not a bad place to get ready as a bride highly recommend. Finally Saturday, the big day consisted, on waking up at 8 am to start hair and makeup with lots of mimosas to calm the nerves! We invited 125 of our most closest family and friends, it was perfect. Here are some pictures of my big day and I added some behind the scenes pictures of the whole wedding weekend before we said our I dos!

A few tips on destination wedding!

  • hire a wedding planner at least for the month before the wedding but highly recommend for the whole wedding planning, you will need as much help as you can get when it comes to a destination wedding!
  • make a itinerary for all wedding activities, guests will always ask for directions, times, location, etc. Send a picture of your itinerary to your guests and you will be a much more relaxed bride or groom
  • don’t bring your phone to your wedding, you will enjoy your wedding much more without everyone calling you or texting and you most definitely don’t want to be on social media (stay in the present moment!!!).
  • overall don’t freak out if something does not go your way, if it’s out your control don’t even try, just continue having fun. Enjoy your special day, it’s goes by in a blink.

The following Wednesday after our wedding, we flew to our honeymoon. It started with a business trip to London but after that we flew to Alicante in Spain for a day. Then we ended up island hopping to Ibiza, Mallorca and back to Granada in Spain. Ever picture Spain, then you are probably picturing Granada. So adorable but I don’t want to tell you all about it yet I will write a blog post soon. 😏 After Spain, we took a boat from Gribaltar to Morocco. First time in Africa! We ended our trip with a business trip to India. Two months of unforgettable work honeymooning.

Behind the Scenes! Wedding weekend before the big day 🙂

What’s in Sherry’s Bag

Hi love! Marymar and I love reading other post in which bloggers lay out the contents of their bags and show us what they carry around everyday. I love that idea, not only because I am always curious what people harbor in their bags haha, but also because I have found really cool gems this way. Marymar showed me a “whats in my bag” blog post and that is how I came across my now favorite snack, olives in a bag (they are sold in Trader Joes and they are so delicious). After reading that post I decided that I too would like to reveal my contents, and now it will be no mystery what I carry around.

Story Behind my Bag

The bag I have been using for a couple of years now has been this brown leather bag that Marymar gave me. She brought this to me after her 6 month long excursion in India. It was the least she could do after leaving me for half a year haha kidding. I love this bag so much and although y’all can see I clearly need a new bag, I find it so hard to let this one go. In fact, Marymar and her husband Curran just came back from their honeymoon. One of the places they went to was India! and they brought me another bag similar to this one so I will be making the transition as soon as my heart is ready to let go of the current one.

My Contents

Lip Products

If you read my favorite lipsticks article, than you will recognize my favorite lipsticks because I carry them with me at all times. On top of my favorite lipsticks I ALWAYS carry lip balm (white tin can) with me, which Marymar gave it to me too after I told her how much I loved it. It is one of the few lip balms I feel does a great job hydrating my lips. If you haven’t tried that one, you must! Get it here.

I take this bag on every trip I go on and I’m always stuffing it with random things throughout the day. When I return from trips I usually clean out my bag and ill find cool stuff that I’ll forget I put inside. I put those things in a special pocket in my bag, because when I catch a glimpse of them they always bring back memories. Pictured is a ticket for the Japanese Garden in Portland, and a ticket for a water taxi I took across a river in Thailand. Also, my sister bought and wrote a postcard to me in India and she never sent it, so when she gave me my current bag she gave me the postcard with it. Not only is that postcard super special to me, but also I could never separate them (the bag + postcard), I feel like they’re sisters now. They were brought from India to San Diego together, my postcard and bag deserve to be together forever haha I cant be the only one that does this.

Fashion Tape

I strongly recommend everyone to carry fashion tape in their bag. It is a tiny container  with strips of double sided tape. It will save you from wardrobe malfunctions and takes up almost no space. I have used it so many times already and I have had it for only a couple of months. I got mine here from amazon.

Marymar gave all her bridesmaids and me (maid of honor) a cute gift bag, which included this lotion that smells fantastic and so fresh. The scent is sparkling plum, orange flower, and warm amber. Fun fact, my favorite smell in lotion, and candles is warm amber.

One of my closest friends gave me a valentine card last year and attached with it was a cool pin and this Dinosaur. I love Dinosaurs and they’re my favorite animal so it stayed in my bag haha.

The last thing I keep in my bag is this little pouch that I keep all my cards in. Marymar gave this to me as well. Brought all the way from India and I’ve now realized that half of the contents and my bag were gifted to me by Marymar haha thank you sister! Now I know she really does love me, and it only took her giving me a ton of gifts for me to realize this. Haha kidding.

Those are the contents in my bag. These items hardly ever leave my bag, they are my everyday staples. Share with us the contents of your bag! Tell us what treasures you carry around everyday. Thank you for reading love. Talk to you later!

Recipe for healthy homemade apple chips!

Who ever knows me well knows how’s much I love to eat chips, like any type of chips! This year my goal is to try to be healthy both mentally and physically. I have noticed a huge difference in my everyday life when I eat healthy the day before. I wake up with more energy, with a better attitude and honestly sometimes I don’t even bother drinking coffee because I just have so much energy. This year I’m trying to eliminate chips overall or at least step by step so I have been making these apple chips that are tasty and healthy. It’s a great munching snack and it’s saves me money too. I usually buy five apples and put them in baggys where I can easily pack inside my lunch bag. For me it’s more like an afternoon snack while working on my computer. But my husband puts them in his oatmeal or cereal, it’s all so delicious.

You will need:

  • Apples
  • Cinnamon or Brown Sugar
  • Fruit Slicer
  • Parchment Paper
  • Sheet Pan

Like I mentioned I usually buy 5 apples if not more because I pack them as snacks for the whole week. But you can do as much or little as you would like, no crazy rules for this recipe 😜 I poured cinnamon on my new handcrafted bowls that I bought from Morocco and that way it’s easier to sprinkle when I have my slices ready. I turn on my oven to 250 degrees. Meanwhile while the oven is heating up, I slice all the apples with my fruit slicer.

The fruit slicer is a must! Believe me, I’ve tried cutting the apples into thin slices with a knife and they all ended up looking like a disaster. SO Target, TJ Maxx or Walmart might have them. Be super careful with your fingers, use the safety features…Safety First Friends!

Once you slice your apples, place a piece of parchment paper on to your sheet pan. Spread your apples evenly through out the sheet pan. And sprinkles your cinnamon or brown sugar (or anything else you want to add to your apple chips) Leave the pan inside the oven for 1 hour. Once the hour is done take out the sheet pan and flip the apples. Once you flipped the apples chip put it back in the oven for 1 more hour. The first time I tried this recipe I honestly had to leave it an extra 20-30 mins until they are crispy like a chip. Just keep an eye that you don’t burn them that has also happened to me before and ended up mulching all my apples. 😒

As soon as you think your apple chips are done and crispy, take them out of the oven and let them cool down for 10 mins. Eat them right away or enjoy later. This is by far my favorite easy healthy recipe that I have come across. Enjoy friends and let me know if you all know of any other easy healthy recipes that you would are obsess with!? Sharing is caring.

How to Fix Your Broken Makeup in 3 Easy Steps

Hi love! A few weeks ago I opened my high end highlighter, only to discover it was shattered! I was so devastated, and wondered what on earth I had done to deserved this type of karma. Once I composed myself, I posted a picture of my broken highlighter on my instagram story and a lot of my friends commented on it. They told me they had the same problem and they didn’t know what to do about it. Unfortunately, but also luckily, I have gone through this before. I had another highlighter that had shattered and I figured out how to fix it. So let me show you how you can easily fix your broken makeup.

What You’ll Need:

All you need is alcohol, a paper towel, a quarter and something to further break up the product, such as the end of a makeup brush (not pictured above).

Step 1:

Processed with VSCO with s3 preset

I’m using the end of one of the thinnest makeup brushes I own to further break up the makeup. You want to break it up until you can’t break it up further, and it will look like the picture below.

Step 2:

Processed with VSCO with s3 preset

Add alcohol to the powder. The amount of alcohol you need to add depends on how much product you have, therefore add very little at a time and mix until all the product is incorporated. It should look like a thick paste, such as it does below.

Step 3:

Wrap your quarter in your paper napkin and start pressing the product down. You will need to rearrange your quarter around your napkin every few presses because your napkin will get wet and eventually tear. Therefore, press down and move the quarter around before that happens, you don’t want your quarter touching your makeup without a barrier in between.

Final results

This is what your final product will look like after you’ve completed the steps above. Your makeup will be a little wet, but let it dry for a day or two and you should be ready to use it again. The alcohol will not change anything about the makeup, once it dries it will be as good as new!

Thank you for reading! Let us know in the comments if you have any broken makeup you will be fixing with this technique. Talk to you soon!

Marymar’s Bachelorette + Sherry’s Birthday weekend Vlog in San Francisco.

Hi love! We are so excited to share with you our amazing fun weekend in San Francisco! Marymar and I decided to celebrate my birthday, and her bachelorette party on the same weekend. We live in different states, and always meet up for special occasions. We specially love to plan trips to different cities when we have something extra special to celebrate. Last year we met up in Chicago for my birthday, and this year we decided to celebrate in San Francisco!

I had never been to SF, even though I live in Cali (I know), so I was extremely excited to explore a new and fun city. I of course, brought my boyfriend to the trip because I could not imagine not celebrating my birthday with him, and also because he was one of Marymar’s bridesMan. She invited all her bridesmaids and bridesman to the trip. Not all wedding bridal party was able to attend the trip, but most of us were there. We stayed in a couple of houses in Mill Valley, located a few miles after crossing the golden gate bridge. For transportation we used a couple of cars we had available and during the evenings when we wanted to grab drinks we used Uber. The greatest thing about this trip was that we were able to take many videos, and put them together to create a vlog.

We were not able to capture some things, such as attempting to party the first night in town, only to realize once we were in downtown, that Marymar forgot her ID haha. We all promised each other we would go out the last night of our trip, but we were so tired by then that we could not get ourselves out of our comfy clothes. Also, I didn’t capture my birthday dinner, I’m so sad about that, because we were going to go out that night and I did not want to carry my camera around from bar to bar. For my birthday, we went to an amazing Spanish restaurant in the Embarcadero Waterfront called Coqueta. Towards the end of dinner I got surprised with the prettiest and tastiest cake ever! I absolutely recommend that restaurant to anyone visiting San Fran, it is an extremely delicious tapas restaurant with amazing crafty cocktails. It was an incredible birthday and I am so blessed to have been able to celebrate the first half of my birthday in San Diego with my family, and the second half of the day in San Francisco with awesome friends.

After my birthday was over we celebrated Marymar’s bachelorette the rest of the weekend. We went vineyard hopping in Napa Valley. We got to enjoy wine and champagne in Rams Gate and in Domaine Carneros. Throughout the trip we had so much delicious food and went to many amazing places. Overall, Marymar and I agree that the most special part of the trip was ending it with an evening spent by cooking dinner with family and friends, while drinking champagne and wine paired with cheese and meats, followed by enjoying our delicious home cooked meal.

My Choice of Cocktail for the night, spicy!

Here is the Vlog of the weekend. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for reading and watching. Let us know in the comments if you’ve been to San Francisco before. What places and restaurants would you recommend going to? We would love to discover more hidden gems in the city. ‘Till next time love.

My Experience with the IUD Birth Control: Pros and Cons

Hi beautiful. I am extremely excited to talk about this topic today because I hope this post can help women out there looking into birth control methods. If you’re sexually active, and do not want to get pregnant, than you should definitely look into birth control and talk to your doctor about what birth control method is right for you. The reason I want to talk to you about the IUD is because I have first hand experience with it, and I want to make sure women are aware of what the good and bad are for some of us, when it comes to using this method for birth control.

IUD stands for Intrauterine Device, which is a device placed inside your uterus by your doctor. It is a small piece of flexible plastic, shaped like a T. It is a tiny device that put into your uterus, by your doctor, to prevent pregnancy. Its long-term, reversible, and one of the most effective birth control method out there.

There are two different types of IUDs. There are the copper IUDs and hormonal IUDs

How do they work?

They both prevent pregnancy by changing the way sperm cells move so they can’t get to an egg. If sperm can’t get to an egg, pregnancy can’t happen.

The copper IUD uses copper to prevent pregnancy. Sperm doesn’t like copper, so the IUD makes it almost impossible for sperm to get to that egg. It protects you from pregnancy for up to 12 years.

The hormones in the hormonal IUDs prevent pregnancy by thickening the mucus that lives on the cervix, which blocks and traps the sperm, and the hormones also sometimes stop eggs from leaving your ovaries. No egg, no pregnancy. It protects you against pregnancy from 3 to 6 years, depending on the brand.

Before I talk further about the IUD, let me remind you that this is my own personal experience and other women may have totally different experiences than I have.

My personal experience

I have been having my IUD for about 14 months now, before that I was using the pill for birth control. I have always gone to planned parenthood when it comes to birth control. When I was talking to my doctor about which type of IUD was right for me, she immediately recommended a hormonal IUD because of how much smaller they are than the copper one. She recommended the copper one to women who have had kids already, because women who have not had kids have a smaller cervix. She showed me the Mirena IUD and the Copper one and there is a vast difference in size. So I went with the hormonal Mirena IUD.

  • It Last 6 Years
    • this was the main reason I decided to switch birth control methods. I was tired of having to take a pill every day at the same hour. What I love about the IUD is that I do not have to do anything for 6 years and I am still protected against pregnancy. I got the brand Mirena. Different brands have different longevity.
  • They Last For Years, But Are Not Permanent.
    • If  3-12 years are too long and you want to start/extend your family,  you can always go to your doctor, and get it taken out immediately.
  • It Has Made My Period Lighter.
  • It Is The Most Effective Birth Control Method, Other Than Abstinence.
  • It Is Convenient
  • It Is Private

  • It Has To Be Inserted In Your Uterus.
    • Not going to lie, when I got my IUD placed in, it was painful. Not a level 10 type of pain, but around a 7. The process didn’t take long, it took a few minutes, but it felt like a long time. The pain I experienced, I would describe as a huge period like cramp, and it just felt like a lot of discomfort. By the time my doctor told me she was done I was so relived because I had already started to sweat from the pain and discomfort I was in. Once the device was inserted most of my pain went away, except for some slight cramping that lasted a couple of days.
  • Irregular Bleeding and Menstrual Cramping.
    • I got irregular bleeding, spotting like, for about a month after I got my IUD, and then it went away. The cramping lasted a few days after I got my IUD, and that went away as well. When I get my period I do get stronger cramps now, than I did before. I am one of those girls that hardly ever get cramps, but now I know when my period is coming because I can actually feel them, unlike before, and that only happened after getting my IUD.
  • Acne
    • The previous cons I did not mind so much, BUT acne I did! After getting my IUD I was fine, and about 4 months into it I started getting A LOT of acne. Ive never had much acne in my life, just the normal pimple here and there, but that all changed 4 months into getting my IUD. I got so much acne and because of that I was getting so many scars. I started to buy many treatments to try to improve my skin. Luckily now I’ve tried so many things that now I know how to control it. I still don’t have complete clear skin, but it’s good enough that I do not feel insecure about it anymore, but it is something that I am still struggling with occasionally , specially when I get flare ups.

Overall, in my case the pros outweigh the cons. The only reason I would have gotten my IUD taken out, would have been if I would not have been able to control my acne. In fact, I gave myself a time frame and had decided I would have it removed if I didn’t find a solution to that problem in that time. Luckily, I am able to control most of it now. The rest of the cons are not something that bothered me too much. I would rather go through a little pain of having an IUD inserted, and have the convenience of not doing anything else for years. Like I said earlier, this was my personal experience and I have talked to many women who have had this type of birth control, and have had absolute different experiences than I have. Either way you can always try it out and if you realize you do not like it, you can have it taken out and try another type of birth control. Whichever option you choose to go with what is most important is that all you beautiful women who are not planning on getting pregnant and are sexually active, choose a birth control method and find out what is right for you. Let me know if you had the same experience I did what the IUD and/or what type of birth control method has worked best for you and would recommend. Thank you love, talk to you later!

Get to Know Sherry! 30 Random Questions

Hi friends! I am super excited to tell you a little bit more about myself. My sister and I are extremely passionate about this blog so I want to show you who’s behind it and my story so we can get to know each other and get a sense of who we are and where we are coming from.

My name is Sherry Fierro. I am from San Diego, Ca. Born and raised. I love this city, it really is a vacation spot, but year round for me. I have two sisters. My oldest sister is Marymar she is my partner in crime, soul mate and best friend. I am second in line, and for a long time we thought it was just going to be us two. Then, many years later my younger cool brother came along and we totally though that was it, three is a party and y’all know. Many years go by after that, and now we have a newer younger one. My baby sister is 1 year old! she’s a cutie who loves to dance. Amazing happy family.

Leah and her bff Grover

My sister and I have been inseparable ever since I was born, we are a year and nine months apart in age so we have always been able to relate each other. We lived in the same household up until she left to college. Then I went away for college too, but we did not attend the same one. I was attending a public school, UC Irvine. While she was enrolled in a private liberal arts school, University of Redlands. There was a huge difference in the colleges we were attending. Once we were both in college we were living about an hour and a half away from each other. When our mom gave Marymar a car thats when we started visiting each other all the time! we would sometimes get home sick so we would spend weekends with each other. One weekend we would party in her school and another weekend we would relax and do our homework in my school. Her school had really fun parties and my school had great study spots haha. We had the best time!

Mom, Marymar and Me

My mom was a single mom, so I started working in high school to help her with my expenses. I would attend school during the weekdays and work during the weekends as well as all my vacation days. Once I started working I never stopped. Every time, every day, every hour I could work I would. For many years I did not really think to do much other than go to school and work. That was until I turned 23. I remember thinking I needed to do something that I was passionate about and enjoyed doing for myself. I am not getting any younger and I do not want to live my life living like a robot. Life is short and we do not know when we are leaving the earth. I was taking my time for granted because I had the mentality that I can always travel later or im not doing it right now because of work, but the time will come when I can enjoy all the stuff I have been wanting to do.  When I turned 23 I told myself this was my year. This is going to be the year that I start doing things for me. I gave myself three goals. 1) Start Traveling 2)Workout 3) Start working on a passion. So I started doing all those things! And I am more happy than I have ever been. The working out part I am still learning to love and be consistent with, but I am not giving up on it haha.

23rd birthday in Chicago.

My other half name is Erik. He is so sweet and funny. I am always laughing when I am around him. We started dating our senior year of high school. We were not friends before we started dating, we knew of each other and we even rode the same school bus together, but we never spoke to each other. Than, one day I was waiting in line to get in the bus. I remember that I had my school ID inside my back pack and we needed to show our ID to get in the bus. I’m facing the bus and from the reflection of the bus window I see Erik walking down some stairs that led to the busses and I knew he was the funny kid that always sat in the back of the bus. He was about to get in line to go inside the bus so I was thinking i’m going to ask him if he could get my id from the front pocket of my backpack so I can start talking to him, and my excuse would be that I don’t want to take off my backpack so it would be easier for him to get it. So thats what happened and once he got my ID we started talking and he asked “why don’t you ever sit in the back of the bus?” and I said “If you want me to sit next to you why don’t you just ask me?” and there were no empty seats that fit two people, but his best friend was sitting in one so he asked him if he could move to another seat so we could sit next to each other haha so his friend moved and we talked the whole bus ride home and never stopped talking to each other since then. We never thought we would do the whole long distance thing, but with all its ups and downs we survived 4 years of college and now we are finally living in the same city and loving it.

I love reading, makeup, my family, traveling, coffee shops, Netflix, amazon prime shipping haha it has made my life better. Like Marymar’s fiancé, Curran, always says we are all lost. I believe we are all lost, but I also think the universe conspires to help us find our meaning and our souls purpose as long as we build the courage to pursue our dreams and passions. It’s Sunday afternoon and I am writing next to a nice warm fireplace on a rainy weather.  I want to write a little bit about me and answer some fun questions so we can get to know each other more. I was born and raised in Sunny San Diego but I currently live in Oklahoma City. I bet you are wondering how I got here haha it’s all because of my fiancé, he was born and raised in Oklahoma City and always knew that he will come back to his hometown after traveling the world. I met my fiancé (Curran Martin Banning Fudge) during college in Southern California at the University of Redlands. I was a senior about to graduate when we met out on a college student night out at the bars in downtown Redlands, a bar called Underground. After exchanging looks with Curran from across the bar I turned around to talk to my friends and next thing I know Curran approaches me with his clever pick up line, “Can you take a selfie of me” lol. So I didn’t end up taking a selfie of him but instead we started talking about traveling, school, family, Israel, Italy, Art, etc… We decided to go travel around India after we graduated college, he spend 10 months and I spend 6 months traveling around together in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It is one of the most amazing times of our lives because we got to share this experience together, it was either you make it or you break it type of scenario but we made it.  We took a 10 day meditation course and after we finished the course, we stayed in Rishikesh, a town in India located in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges Rivers and where yoga started. Well that day when we arrived, Curran asked me to move to Oklahoma City with him, I said I have to ask my mom first lol. But after coming back from India I moved everything to Oklahoma City and we have been loving it here! I love this city, it’s a growing city, with a big community aspect. We both have a huge love for growing our city through Real Estate. We have a Real Estate Company, CMF LLC, where we flip homes, have rentals, and currently we are working on our first commercial space (ill post more about this side of me). Our goal for the future is to build eco tiny homes for families in 3rdworld coutries. The is no better feeling than having a warm and cozy home, that’s the experience we want to give to others (fingers crosses we get to achieve this). We also just bought a structural antiques home décor business. It was a business that the universe made happen. We once said while we were traveling through India, that we should bring all this amazing doors, furniture, home decor to the USA and here we are, we sell structural antiques and home décor from places like Kansas, England, France, St. Louis, and next trip is India!

Curran and Marymar traveling through India

I have my sister Sherry aka partner in everything! Our baby brother Manny, he is not a baby more like 12 year old almost teenager but we raised him so he is like a child/brother. And our baby sister she is 1 year old! Our mom’s name is Alexi and she is the reason why I do what I do and am who I am, she is an amazing mom and person (If you are reading this I love you mom!). I am huge traveler, and I love capturing moments of my adventures. During college, I lived in Rome Italy and studied abroad for a semester which I consider myself sort of Italiana haha. My fiancé and I adopted both a cat and dog. We found them roaming around in the streets both full of fleas but now they are both the happiest and cutest animals. The dog’s name is Flea Foxcowpuss Fudge and the cat’s name is Sheloshe Arba Fudge.

My Fiance, my sisters, my brother but especially my mom. Im just trying to make my momma proud!

What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?

I don’t hide it but I love rap music!! Huge fan of Drake, Rick Ross, Rae Sremmurd!

What’s the last adventure you went on?

The last adventure was actually both an adventure and a work trip. Curran and I went to Kansas and St. Louis to buy cool inventory for our store. It was so much fun, we worked and played.

Communication, Trust and lots of laughter!

Probably some soap opera actor from the telenovelas from Mexico.

Michelle Obama! I love my life and wouldn’t want to trade it but I would want to be Michelle Obamas best friend.

I love vintage silverware, so I would want to find vintage silverware from different places around the world.

What bad habit do you have that you know you need to break, but don’t really want to?

This wild ride we call life!

Thanks for joining us!

We are Marymar and Sherry. We want to tell you a little bit about us and our mission.

Our journey started when we became sisters! We consider ourselves to be soul mates. We are not just saying that because we are sisters ha! Ever since we were introduced to each other, by our mother, many many many years ago, we became inseparable and not just because we lived in the same house and shared rooms up until college haha. We know exactly what either one of us is thinking, our energy levels are either high or low at the same time. We also love doing the same things, we are basically twins since we shared the same womb but with a 1 year and 6 month difference. haha!  We really are so lucky to be born as sisters! Fast forward to today, we wanted to put our minds together and create an outlet where everyone can come and forget about their problems, and worries and just submerge in a world of positivity and creativity. We want to reach out to everyone and just share our knowledge through this blog.  We want to take you through our journey wether it’s traveling, or writing about about our different passions in life. Most importantly we want to encourage you to follow your heart and always be true to yourself. Anything is achievable with persistency and passion. We need to help each other out. Its a rough world out there, but it becomes a better place when you have people behind you that will motivate, encourage and teach you a thing or two. So lets be happy today and always, and join us on this wild ride we call life!

This is How I Managed to Make it on my Flight Without my Lost ID and Passport

What happens when you have a plane to get in and your drivers license is misplaced, while your passport is thousands of miles from you? I wish I knew the answer when I had this exact problem before my last flight .

Recently I helped my family move states from San Diego, California to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Surprised already? haha me too. Anyway, we drove across the country because we wanted to bring the cars and as many stuff as we could. Hours into our road trip I realized I forgot my ID (drivers license), which I needed to be able to fly back home. Luckily, Marymar was back in our house in San Diego for one more day before she had to leave for a trip too. I quickly called her and told her to mail me my id. She did just that and chose express shipping through UPS, I was supposed to receive my id a couple of days later.  Now you know how the story ends because I am here writing a blog post on how to still be able to travel, without an id and passport. UPS lost my mail and I freaked. So here is what I did to be able to go through TSA and get on my flight.

As soon as I knew I wasn’t going to receive my ID, I called the airline I was traveling in and told them about my situation. They recommended that I bring whatever I can to be able to prove that it was me who was traveling. Unfortunately for me I didn’t have any credit cards, I didn’t even have a simple library card with my name haha.

I tried calling TSA to speak to a representative and I was not able to make it past the automated voice. However, I emailed them thinking they wouldn’t reply, but I was trying everything at this point. Luckily they responded to my email the next morning, less than 24 hour response rate! thank you TSA. I told them about my situation and asked wether I was able to pass airport security without a picture ID. This is what they responded.

At this point the universe was just aligning in my favor because my mom discovered she had packed up my birth certificate and social security card with her stuff, and brought it to her new house. I had two forms of ID, but I was still nervous.

What happened when I arrived to the airport.

I arrived to the airpot and when it was my turn to hand over my ID and scan my ticket I told the TSA agent I didn’t have an ID. She told me to step aside and another agent came over. I explained my story, and informed the agent of all the documents I brought, in order to prove it was me who was flying. Once I scanned my ticket and he looked at my documents I went through the x ray machine. Afterwards, two other agents grabbed my belongings and escorted me to another area where they patted me down and searched through all my belongings. After everything checked out fine I was cleared and I was free to go to my fight.

Hope this helps you if you find yourself in a similar situation. Flying like this is not ideal, but at least I was able to make it back home. It was not easy to get cleared, but I wouldn’t expect and I would be worried if it was. Great way to start the year haha I can tell it is going to be a good one. Has anything like this happened to you? let me know so I don’t feel as embarrassed! Talk to you soon love.
