Who ever knows me well knows how’s much I love to eat chips, like any type of chips! This year my goal is to try to be healthy both mentally and physically. I have noticed a huge difference in my everyday life when I eat healthy the day before. I wake up with more energy, with a better attitude and honestly sometimes I don’t even bother drinking coffee because I just have so much energy. This year I’m trying to eliminate chips overall or at least step by step so I have been making these apple chips that are tasty and healthy. It’s a great munching snack and it’s saves me money too. I usually buy five apples and put them in baggys where I can easily pack inside my lunch bag. For me it’s more like an afternoon snack while working on my computer. But my husband puts them in his oatmeal or cereal, it’s all so delicious.
You will need:
- Cinnamon or Brown Sugar
- Fruit Slicer
- Parchment Paper
- Sheet Pan
Like I mentioned I usually buy 5 apples if not more because I pack them as snacks for the whole week. But you can do as much or little as you would like, no crazy rules for this recipe 😜 I poured cinnamon on my new handcrafted bowls that I bought from Morocco and that way it’s easier to sprinkle when I have my slices ready. I turn on my oven to 250 degrees. Meanwhile while the oven is heating up, I slice all the apples with my fruit slicer.
The fruit slicer is a must! Believe me, I’ve tried cutting the apples into thin slices with a knife and they all ended up looking like a disaster. SO Target, TJ Maxx or Walmart might have them. Be super careful with your fingers, use the safety features…Safety First Friends!
Once you slice your apples, place a piece of parchment paper on to your sheet pan. Spread your apples evenly through out the sheet pan. And sprinkles your cinnamon or brown sugar (or anything else you want to add to your apple chips) Leave the pan inside the oven for 1 hour. Once the hour is done take out the sheet pan and flip the apples. Once you flipped the apples chip put it back in the oven for 1 more hour. The first time I tried this recipe I honestly had to leave it an extra 20-30 mins until they are crispy like a chip. Just keep an eye that you don’t burn them that has also happened to me before and ended up mulching all my apples. 😒
As soon as you think your apple chips are done and crispy, take them out of the oven and let them cool down for 10 mins. Eat them right away or enjoy later.
